The running mate question
There is of course great speculation about who is going to be the running mates for the US presidential candidates, Obama and McCain.
Personally, I find the question of the latters running mate the most interesting. Because it seems like right now this is the place where a VP candidate could have the most to win - and the most to loose. Why? Well, McCain isn’t young anymore, so even though the odds still are slim, there could be an opportunity to step up during the term, if the worst should happen. Even though nobody would admit it - and one should never hope for such uglyness - my bet is that this is a factor for the potential candidates in question.
On the other hand, McCain has so little real momentum that a lot of people see it as a foregone conclusion that he will loose. And who wants to be on the loosing side?

A bit disappointed by ‘The Dark Night’
Last night, Louise and I went to the local cinema to watch ‘The Dark Night’. I can’t recall a movie, I have looked forward to seeing so much as this (oh well, ‘Downfall’), so I was naturally exstatic, when the movie began.
Albeit the movie is good, I was a little disappointed. Perhaps that goes with unnatural high expectations? There were moments when sparks were flying from Heath Ledger, and we’re I was truly awed. But these were moments, where I was left craving for more. Christian Bale was top notch too, and I don’t doubt that both of them will be in the running for the Oscar’s
‘The Dark Night’ is good. But epic? No.

Why plans seldom work out
Spotted this from Nick Pagan, and I think he’s absolutely spot on.
…creating a plan based primarily upon time estimates and expecting it to be right actually designs failure into the whole effort.
If you, as I, find it challenging to craft real solid plans, go read Nicks piece. It’s really inspiring.

Great day
So far this special day has been great.
Met a prospective client at the train station this morning, and we agreed to talk some more next week.
Had a great initial meeting with a new business partner, where we got both going on our first project and secured all the paper work.
And tonight I’m going out with Louise to celebrate the first anniversay of my company.
What a great day!

The advertising schisma
As advertising becomes ever more targeted, will our receptiveness towards advertising messaging decrease?
The reason I ask is because I can imagine a future where the intrusiveness of the ads become so all-dominant that we, collectively, decide to say ‘No!’ to it. A time when we come to the realization that not even the proposition of something being free to use in exchange for intrusive messages is enough.
What do you think? Am I seeing ghosts here?
